Be proactive with your health

Why taking time out to nurture your body and soul is not a luxury, but a necessity.

How often do you deny yourself the opportunity to take time out to nurture your body and mind? Far too often I hear from people “Are you kidding? Take time out for myself? I haven’t done that in months.” And most of these people don’t have time because they are busy with the kids and household chores.

All of these excuses I can relate to, but in my 15 years experience working as a professional licensed massage therapist, when we don’t take time out to “fill our own cup” before we pour it out to those we love, we give from and empty cup and everyone loses out in the long run. Instead of using what little free time we DO HAVE to do things we enjoy, we spend it going from doctor to doctor trying to figure out why our body’s ache or why we can’t sleep at night.

90 percent of diseases are caused by stress. We can’t afford not to nurture our body and mind in these fast paced times. In fact I believe scheduling in an hour or so monthly to be pampered and nurtured is not a luxury but a necessity.
