Connecticut Weather: Spring Weather Finally Arrives This Week

Sometimes change isn't a bad thing, and that's the case with this week's weather forecast. Here are the latest details.

On Saturday afternoon temps were in the upper 40s in Connecticut accompanied by a soaking rain. Fast-forward to Thursday, and we're expected to be in the 80s to possibly near 90 degrees in parts of the state. Once again it's a reminder of how quickly the weather can change.

Besides some showers and strong winds on Monday, it will be almost summer-like with plenty of sun, warm temps and practically no rain in the forecast through the weekend. (Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Special Weather Statement today for Hartford and Tolland counties, noting that winds will be strong and possibly gust to near 50 mph. The entire state will see stronger wind gusts later this afternoon.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “I hope you're having a good day! Some scattered showers today from time to time through early afternoon. More importantly, the wind will get strong and gusty. Could be a few scattered power outages with winds gusting between 40 and 45 mph. I'm expecting beautiful weather tomorrow, sunshine and 70s. Are you ready for summer? Hot weather coming in Wednesday and Thursday along with some humidity.”

And I think WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Sam Kantrow best sums up how we feel about this week’s forecast. “Excited I get to talk about the return of a high UV index this week. Finally some sun, finally some HEAT!” Kantrow wrote.
