Blood Drive Upcoming In Greenwich

GREENWICH, CT — A blood drive has been scheduled for Monday, Aug. 5, at the Greenwich Reform Synagogue at 92 Orchard St. in Cos Cob.

The drive will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Those interested in donating should sign up in advance online here; enter GRS as the sponsor code. Residents can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Resident Gary Silberberg has oganized the drive, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.

"There will be refreshments courtesy of the First Bank of Greenwich, including the always popular deviled eggs courtesy of Garelick and Herbs," Camillo said. "This is something that is so important to do because each blood donation can save three lives."

The Connecticut Blood Center recently issued an "urgent call" for type O- and type O+ blood, according to NBC Connecticut.
