Blood Drive Upcoming In Greenwich: Here's How To Sign Up

"Both locally in Connecticut and nationally, blood supplies are critically low," First Selectman Fred Camillo said recently.

GREENWICH, CT -- An American Red Cross blood drives is scheduled to take place in Greenwich on Valentine's Day.

The event is being managed by Ross Ogden of the Red Cross, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo's weekly newsletter to the community. The drive will take place at First Presbyterian Church at 1 West Putnam Ave. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Right now, the need for blood donations is urgent. The Red Cross reports that recent cold and snowy weather, the holiday season, and a severe flu outbreak have significantly reduced donor numbers. Both locally in Connecticut and nationally, blood supplies are critically low," Camillo said.

"This shortage could result in postponed medical procedures and, should a major incident occur in Greenwich, our community could be at risk. Therefore, I strongly encourage Greenwich residents to contribute if they are eligible by signing up for the February 14 blood drive."

Residents can sign up online here by using the code FPCG. As of Wednesday afternoon, only five time slots were open.
