Budget Season In Greenwich To Officially Begin Jan. 23

GREENWICH, CT — While planning has been ongoing behind the scenes for months, budget season in Greenwich will officially kick off Jan. 23.

First Selectman Fred Camillo is slated to present his proposed 2024-2025 municipal budget to the Board of Estimate and Taxation's Budget Committee on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. from Greenwich Town Hall.

"It’s important that people see what my priorities are for the coming fiscal year and we have been working very hard in my office to address the needs of the town while still acknowledging that this is going to be a very challenging year," Camillo said in his most recent newsletter to the community.

Following Camillo's presentation, Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones will showcase her spending plan at 7 p.m.

A public hearing will follow the presentations to allow residents a chance to comment.

Residents can appear in person to make a three-minute public statement at the hearing, but an online form for comment is available for people who cannot attend.

Camillo is encouraging residents to appear either in person or use the online form to make clear what they prioritize in the new budget.

The hearing will be streamed on Greenwich Community Television and its YouTube channel.

In the coming weeks, the BET Budget Committee will do its departmental reviews as part of its consideration of the budget. The first review will be on Jan. 30 with the Office of the First Selectmen. The budget committee will continue its reviews throughout February, culminating in a
"decision day" on Feb. 27.
