From Dr. Liya Petrides, Music Director at St.Catherine-St.Agnes:This is a rare and great opportunity to hear a world-class soprano from Finland Olga Heikkila without having to travel to New York City and pay Metropolitan Opera ticket prices. Ms. Hekkila is currently in New York to star in the critically acclaimed Metropolitan Opera premiere of Kaija Saariaho's opera Innocence, and we are so grateful that she found time to present this program at our venue amidst her very busy schedule.
As always, this program, sponsored by our Friends of Music Society, is presented to you FREE OF CHARGE, while your free-will donations are greatly appreciated.
Ms. Heikkila will be accompanied by the internationally renowned pianist and organist, faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Kalle Toivio, also a native of Finland.
If hearing beautiful and moving music performed with the highest degree of virtuosity and mastery in the beautiful acoustics of St. Catherine's church constitutes a great musical experience for you, do not miss this performance. Following the concert, there will be a light reception in the Narthex, where you will be able to meet our distinguished guest artists in person.
