Cove Island Park has been designated a state Important Bird Area for its variety of coastal, thicket, and woodland habitat that makes it home to an incredible variety of both resident and migrant bird species. The coast of Long Island Sound provides wintering grounds for ducks, loons, and grebes while the park's bird sanctuary offers meadow, thicket, and woodland habitats perfect for viewing migrating songbirds.
