Camillo Urges Residents To Clean Up Dog Waste
Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo made the plea in his weekly newsletter to the community on Friday.
GREENWICH, CT — Noted dog lover, First Selectman Fred Camilo, is urging residents to clean up after their dogs.
Camillo made the plea in his weekly newsletter to the community on Friday, saying that not cleaning up dog waste poses a public health risk.
"This is the time of year where we can bring our dogs to Greenwich Point and it’s a time a lot of people truly love, including myself. But I have noticed recently, especially with the snow starting to melt, that people have not been cleaning up after their dogs," Camillo wrote. "Restricting having dogs at Greenwich Point is not something any of us want to do, but we need people to do a better job of cleaning up."

Residents should bring waste bags with them when walking their dogs, Camillo noted.
"I am a proponent of expanding the dog season at the beach from the present four months to six months, but when people are not responsible dog owners and are not considerate of other beach and park users, then we will begin to see an outcry for a shorter beach season for dogs, so please do your part and bring plastic bags with you on your walks," he added.
