GREENWICH, CT — A car drove off Steamboat Road and flipped onto the rocks below at the water's edge in downtown Greenwich Sunday morning, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

An elderly driver sustained an ankle injury and was taken to Stamford Hospital, Deputy Police Chief Mark Zuccerella said. Due to the low tide at the time, a water rescue was not needed.

The crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday. First responder crews were waiting for a tow truck with a crane to arrive.
