CLSC families celebrate Autumn Moon Festival at UCONN-Stamford
Chinese Language School of CT hosted Mooncake Making Workshop

Every year, the Chinese language School of Connecticut of Greenwich and Stamford hosts a mooncake making session for its families who are interested in keeping up the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.
Instead of using traditional ingredients, Dept. of the Art and Culture at CLSC provided sweetened rice dough, cooked rice four and organic chocolate to make Snow-Skin Moon cakes, a version of a dessert that originated from the Chinese populations in South East Asia.
Known by various names throughout Asia, including Moon Festival and Harvest Moon Festival, the mid-autumn ritual was popularized more than a thousand years ago.

Over 120 mooncakes were made by early afternoon, ready for distribution to the CLSC students. In addition to homemade mooncakes, Sharon Lum, a director at CLSC brought in traditional Mooncakes purchased from the Asian grocery store in New York for the CLSC population to sample.
