Community Fundraising Effort Launched To Enhance Greenwich's 4th Of July Fireworks

Organizers said the effort coincides with the nation's 250th anniversary and is intended to create a more dynamic experience for residents.

GREENWICH, CT — The Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation, in partnership with the town’s Parks & Recreation Department, has launched a community fundraising campaign aimed at enhancing this year’s Fourth of July fireworks displays.

The campaign, called "Light Up Greenwich," seeks to raise an additional $25,000 to expand the July 2 fireworks shows at both Binney Park and Greenwich Point.

Organizers said the effort coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary and is intended to create a more dynamic experience for residents who attend the annual celebrations.

Town officials said the fireworks displays have long served as a gathering point for families, friends and neighbors. As Greenwich prepares to mark the milestone alongside the national America 250 initiative, the foundation is encouraging residents, businesses and community leaders to contribute to the campaign.

"At its core, this celebration is about our country and community," said Parks & Recreation Director Joe Siciliano in a news release. "Each year, we are proud to bring residents together for an experience that feels both timeless and uniquely Greenwich. As we approach the 250th anniversary of America, we have an opportunity to make this year’s fireworks truly exceptional, but doing so requires the support of the community we serve."

Organizers said the campaign comes amid rising costs associated with producing fireworks displays, citing increased production expenses, supply chain pressures and tariffs affecting materials. They said those factors have made it more difficult for municipalities to maintain or expand traditional shows.

"This is a moment where community partnership matters more than ever," said Parks & Rec. Foundation Co-Chaair Sue Moretti Bodson. "With rising costs and external pressures like tariffs impacting fireworks production, we are stepping forward to ensure that this milestone celebration reflects the significance of America’s 250th anniversary. Light Up Greenwich is about more than fireworks — it’s about bringing people together, honoring our shared history, and creating a joyful, collective experience for the entire Town."

The rain date for the fireworks is July 11.

The campaign includes corporate sponsorship opportunities as well as individual donations. Sponsorship levels range from $1,000 to $7,500, with recognition planned through digital promotions, press materials and event acknowledgments.
