Cos Cob Library To Close Temporarily: What To Know
The renovation project continues to progress at the Cos Cob Library branch, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.
GREENWICH, CT — The Cos Cob Library branch will temporarily close beginning June 2 as the renovation project there continues to progress, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.
"The good news is this is only expected to be for a short time as Phase 2 of the project begins and the existing interior space is renovated and reorganized to better meet community needs," Camillo said in his weekly newsletter to the community on May 30. "People are urged to return materials and pick up reserves at the other Greenwich Library locations, but there will be some limited access in Cos Cob to get materials."
From June 2 to June 6, residents will be able to pick up library holds at Cos Cob Library at 5 Sinawoy Road between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but there will be no public access to library collections and facilities during that time.

There will be no service on July 4. Additional summer hours will be announced, Camillo said.

Renovations at the Cos Cob Library branch began last October.
The project will add an additional 1,120 square feet to the Cos Cob Library, mainly devoted to a new 857-square foot community room. The layout of the existing interior space will change, shifting the children’s section to the rotunda area on the eastern side of the building and moving the adult section to the western part of the building, providing nearly 600 square feet of additional space for children and young adults.
Funding for the Cos Cob renovation will come from a combination of private and public funding through capital improvement appropriations. The Friends of Cos Cob Library contributed a gift of $100,000 to support the project.
