Immediately following the crash, police released a photo of the suspect vehicle to the public in an attempt to gather more information.
"Stamford Police CARS (Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad) would like to thank the many citizens of Stamford that called us and helped us identify what year, make, and model of the vehicle that we were looking for regarding this collision," police said in a news release Wednesday. "That information helped us develop a suspect vehicle, and ultimately the suspect. As always, we appreciate any and all assistance from the community."
Police said they identified a suspect early on in the investigation and located and seized the suspect vehicle several hours after the crash.
Longo was interviewed the day of the crash and denied hitting a pedestrian, police said.
The suspect vehicle was analyzed and tested by the State of Connecticut Forensic Laboratory, and results did not come back until earlier this month, according to police.
Once the results were received, investigators applied for an arrest warrant which was ultimately granted. Police said Longo turned himself in under a pre-arranged agreement with his attorney.
