Popular Sportscaster Signs Off At Local CT Station

He is continuing his role, however, as the main announcer calling UConn Huskies sporting events.

Joe D'Ambrosio, a sportscaster and weekend fill-in anchor at NBC CT for more than 25 years, is leaving the station, reports The Laurel. The move comes on the heals of the station recently signing John Henry Smith III and Gabrielle Lucivero to handle its sports coverage, according to the publication.

"Joe D." is perhaps best known to many as the main announcer calling UConn Huskies sporting events, such as men's basketball and hockey, and football. He remains in that role.

In the spring of 2017, D'Ambrosio also signed off from afternoon sports talk on WTIC-AM when the station moved to an afternoon news format, writes The Laurel.
