Connecticut Magazine's experts sampled the fare from dozens of restaurants throughout the state and came up with this list of the best.

If you love to dine out, you have hundreds of great options in Connecticut, hundreds of options of virtually any type of food. To help you zero in on the best choices, Connecticut Magazine offers up a list of Connecticut's best restaurants for 2018, in which experts chose the best in 32 categories.
For example, under the category "Best for Overall Excellence," the magazine names the following 12 (in alphabetical order):

- Arethusa al tavolo, Bantam
- Aspen, Old Saybrook
- The Cottage, Westport
- Fresh Salt, Old Saybrook
- Millwright’s, Simsbury
- Present Company, Simsbury
- Shu, West Hartford/Fairfield
- Union League Cafe, New Haven
- The Whelk, Westport
- The White Hart, Salisbury
- Zinc, New Haven
