Democrat Trevor Crow Announces Campaign For State Senate
Crow will run against incumbent state Sen. Ryan Fazio in the 36th District, which covers Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.

GREENWICH, CT — Trevor Crow, a Democrat and therapist from Greenwich, announced earlier his week that she is running for the Connecticut State Senate in District 36, which covers all of Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.
State Sen. Ryan Fazio (R) currently holds the position. He won a special election over Democratic challenger Alexis Gevanter in August 2021 following the sudden resignation of Democrat Alex Kasser.
Last November, Crow unsuccessfully ran for tax collector in Greenwich. She lost to Republican incumbent Heather Smeriglio.

"I’m running because our communities deserve a voice in our State Senate, but we’re not going to get it until we elect someone who can take a seat at the table," Crow said in a news release Monday. "Voters are ready to feel seen and heard by their elected officials, something I’ve done as a therapist and business owner for years. I’m ready to get to work on the issues that Fairfield County residents care about."
Fazio said he welcomes Crow into the race.

"I think that competition and the democratic process can make everyone better. I look forward to running a competitive race," he said, noting that he will announce his campaign plans soon. "I have every intention to run again. I love the job and I'm honored to have been elected to the job."
In her announcement, Crow said her priorities will include safeguarding a woman's right to choose, keeping local control of communities and advocating for tax cuts to protect small businesses.
"Trevor graduated from Harvard with an MBA, so she’s certainly qualified, but more importantly, her time as a practicing therapist means she knows how to listen, something our current senator has refused to do," said Greenwich Democratic Town Committee Chair Joe Angland in a news release. "Just last week, he voted against a woman's right to choose, something voters on both sides have repeatedly shown they want protected."
Fazio pushed back against Angland's comments, calling them "completely false."
"I certainly never did that and no such vote even happened in the legislature. To the contrary, abortion has been legal under Connecticut state law since 1991. This statute and policy will remain in effect irrespective of any pending court decision, and my Senate colleagues and I are certainly not going to change the law either," Fazio told Patch.
Connecticut lawmakers last week passed HB 5414, an act concerning protections for persons receiving and providing reproductive health care services in the state.
The bill aims to protect medical providers and patients seeking abortion care in Connecticut who may be traveling from other states that have outlawed abortion. Additionally, the bill expands abortion access in Connecticut by expanding the type of practitioners eligible to perform certain abortion-related care.
Fazio, who voted against the bill, said it significantly lowers the safety standards for surgical abortions in Connecticut, according to the Greenwich Time.
"I have introduced legislation expanding access to contraception and supported bipartisan bills to improve health care access and quality for women in our district and beyond," Fazio told Patch. "I am eager to continue working across the aisle in the Senate to advance those positive goals now and in the future."
