Details On Nathaniel Witherell Public Hearing

GREENWICH, CT — A public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15 to get input on the future of Nathaniel Witherell, the nursing and rehabilitation center in Greenwich.

The Nathaniel Witherell Board of Directors is conducting the virtual hearing to get public opinion as to whether or not the facility should remain as a town-owned and operated center of care, or be transferred to private management.

The facility has been owned and operated at a town of Greenwich department since 1903.

In March 2016, a special committee on Nathaniel Witherell was established with the task to perform a broad and thorough review of operations at the facility.

In October 2020, through First Selectman Fred Camillo's office, a Request for Proposal for management services of Nathaniel Witherell was posted, based on the findings and recommendations of the special committee.
