Doing the Wave(s) in Greenwich

Stormy weather and wind kick up the seas off Greenwich Point.

The stormy weather Saturday made for some great waves at Greenwich Point Park where there were a few hardy souls jogging, cycling and, of course, parasailing and windsurfing.

The wind gusts had Old Glory snapping straight out by the south concession stand where the parasailors were packing up their gear late in the afternoon. A few residents with tightly tied hooded coats braved the salt-spray laden wind gusts to photograph the waves.

High tide was still about a half-hour away and the waves already were crashing over the seawall at the construction site of the south concession stand that’s weeks’ away from completion of a rebuild because of damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey, who was cruising through the park, said the storm hadn’t created any major issues in town.

At Byram Park, dozens of boats bobbed at the docks in the protected harbor where the Byram Shore Boat Club is located.
