ID Of Driver Killed After Crashing Car In Greenwich Identified

Police said the driver hit a tree and utility wires before crashing into the building, which has been declared "unsafe" by town officials.

GREENWICH, CT — The driver in Thursday's fatal accident in Greenwich has been identified as Andrew Miller, 47, of Bridgeport, according to reports including NBC CT.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when Miller's vehicle struck a tree and utility wires before hitting a building, according to police. The accident occurred at the intersection of Post Road and Cross Lane.

GREENWICH, CT — A man has died after crashing his vehicle into an unoccupied building on the Post Road, at its intersection with Cross Lane in Cos Cob, Thursday night, according to police. Around 10:15 p.m. , the man's vehicle, which was traveling east, veered off the road to the right and hit a tree and utility wires before crashing into a "commercial building," Police Chief James Heavey announced in a statement Friday morning.

Heavey said the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He sustained "significant injuries" and needed to be extricated from the vehicle.

He was then transported to Stamford Hospital, where he was declared dead, Heavey said. Police have not released the identity of the driver yet, as next of kin is still being notified.

The building was also examined and declared unsafe by town building inspectors, Heavey said.
