Driver Faces DUI Charge After Nearly Hitting Greenwich Police Car

The incident occurred on Greenwich Avenue.

A Greenwich man is facing motor vehicle charges including driving under the influence after he nearly struck a Greenwich Police car on Greenwich Avenue.

The incident occurred at 7:41 p.m. Thursday. According to the police report, the driver nearly hit the patrol car as he changed lanes without signaling.

When police stopped the driver, he was observed “to have glassy, red bloodshot eyes and slurred speech,” according to the report. The man, identified as Henry Lee Fong, 64, of 16 William St. W., failed field sobriety tests.

Fong was charged with driving under the influence, failure to use signal and unsafe passing. His bond was set at $250.
