Drunk Driver Drives Off In Midst Of Traffic Stop: Greenwich PD

The incident occurred in Cos Cob the night of April 23.

GREENWICH, CT — A 29-year-old Riverside woman who was pulled over by Greenwich police on suspicion of drunk driving drove off while an officer was speaking to her, causing him to have to jump back into his squad car and chase after her, according to authorities.

Daisy Tovares Nonato Ramos, of Wampus Lane, was pulled over at about 8 p.m. on April 23 on the Post Road after she was spotted driving the wrong way on one-way Nassau Place.

She turned off her Honda CR-V when the officer approached and began speaking with her, but she soon started her vehicle and drove off. The officer then jumped back into his squad car and chased after her for about a half a mile before she again pulled over.

Police said Ramos had "glassy, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol was detected emanating from her breath." An officer also smelled marijuana inside the vehicle, and both an open container of alcohol and marijuana were found inside.

  • Operating a vehicle while under the influence
  • Disobeying the signal of an officer
  • Driving the wrong way on a one-way street
  • Operating without a license
  • Drinking while driving
  • Possession of less an a half-ounce of cannabis

She was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 7.
