DUI Charge For Driver Who Slammed Into Parked Cars: Greenwich PD

The crash occurred on Wescott Street on Sept. 25.

GREENWICH, CT — A 25-year-old Riverside man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and other violations Wednesday night after police said he was driving a car that slammed into two parked cars on Wescott Street, and then fled the scene.

Nicolas Corzo-Araoz, of Perna Lane, was additionally charged with evading responsibility and unsafe movement following the crash.

Officers were called to the area at about 10:30 p.m. when the crash occurred, and they discovered that driver had fled, police said.

The officers were able to determine that Corzo-Araoz had been the operator of the vehicle that crashed into the parked cars, and they found him and his heavily damaged car at his home later that night, according to police.

"Upon speaking with Corzo-Araoz he appeared to have dilated pupils and delayed responses when officers spoke with him," said Greenwich police in a statement.

Corzo-Araoz was taken into custody after he failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 9.
