Fairfield County's first Math Circle will take place at UCONN-Stamford on Dec. 3th 2017 hosted by CLSC

Chinese Language School of Greenwich and Stamford will host Fairfield County's first Math Circle for elementary and Middle school students!

It's official! Chinese Language School of Connecticut will be bringing the GREENWICH-STAMFORD MATH CIRCLE to UCONN-Stamford Campus starting on December 3! The CLSC Greenwich-Stamford Math Circle will be headed by returning Program Director Dr. Lisa Yin ( who holds advanced degrees in applied mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Beijing University) & New Program Director Sophia Hartch both of whom are from Greenwich. Parents are invited to UCONN-Stamford campus on Sunday, Nov. 5th from 11:00 AM to Noon to learn about the unique programs for Gifted Elementary school and Middle School Students.

According to CLSC's Officer Sharon Lum, this will be the very first math program of its type in Fairfield County. "We are thrilled to have the space at UCONN to accommodate more students! The introduction of CLSC math enrichment this past spring was an instant success, so popular that classes posted on CLSC's online registration were filled within the first week" said Mrs. Lum. "Typically, students will not encounter topics covered in this program until College" said Guihua Zhu, CLSC's Academic Program Director.

Mathematical competence and analytical skills are critical to success in grade school, college, and beyond. The purpose of CLSC Greenwich-Stamford Math Circle enrichment program is to provide a stimulating environment for aspiring students who want to gain a deeper understanding of mathematics. In addition, we also prepare students for the AMC8, AMC10 and MathCounts competitions, which are nationwide math contests for middle school students. Our program values creativity and originality over drilling and memorization in the mathematical learning process.
