Family Centers' Board Member, Staffer Earn State Recognition
The Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies honored the two for their efforts to improve the lives of families.

Family Centers’ board member Helen Dixon and staff member Andre Campos were recognized as “Family Champions” by the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies (CCFSA) for their commitment to improving the lives of families.
At a ceremony held at the Trumbull Marriot on May 8, the CCFSA honored Dixon, Campos and 28 other human services professionals and volunteers in Connecticut.
Since joining the board more than 40 years ago, Dixon has been one of the first to roll up her sleeves and lend a hand wherever she is needed, Family Centers said in a statement. She is a former board chairman and has provided support and guidance to children coping with the loss of a loved one as a volunteer with The Den for Grieving Kids.

As the co-chair Family Centers’ Families In Crisis Committee, Dixon also helps shape the direction of the agency’s programs that provide support, counseling and intervention services to families in need. She has also co-chaired the agency’s Early Childhood Education Committee.
For more than 14 years, Campos has been a resource for residents of the Stamford area with HIV/AIDS. Whether assisting with securing stable housing, monitoring the proper use of medication or organizing toy drives at Christmas for needy children, Campos is there for his clients, according to the agency.
