Family Fun at Christmas on Round Hill

Christmas on Round Hill offers visits with Santa, rides on the Round Hill Express, crafts for kids, and shopping for everyone.

May All Your Christmases Be White

Come to “Christmas on Round Hill” at the Round Hill Community House where the magic begins! Step out of time and find yourself in a winter wonderland. On Friday evening, December 11th from 6 to 9 PM, there will be a gala Preview Party (tickets available through the Round Hill Community Church) and on Saturday, December 12th, is the Fair, open free to the community 10 AM to 4 PM. The proceeds from the Fair support the Church’s Outreach Ministry and the care of the Community House.

At the Fair, Santa Claus will be sitting in his sleigh, as he has done at every Fair for the past 45 + years. The beautiful sleigh is over 100 years old and was used to glide over the snow drifts in back country Greenwich. The tradition of Christmas on Round Hill goes back to when the Community House was built in the 1920’s. Of course much has changed but members of the Church and their friends still bake and bring goodies to be sold along with beautiful handicrafts. The Round Hill Express Train continues to chug around the grounds carrying delighted young passengers. The train was built in the 1950’s by John McAulay, the Church Sexton.

The Fair, Saturday, December 12th, 10-4 PM, is an event for the whole community and great fun for families. There are special activities for children including crafts they can make and take home. And while the children have fun, adults can shop for gifts. At the heart of the Fair is “The Treasure Trove,” a collection of treasures and collectibles from the attics and closets of many kind donors. You may discover a picture, piece of porcelain or crystal, or a pillow, or a vintage dress you love.

At “Something Special” you can select from beautiful work made by women of the Round Hill Craft Studio. Fine decoupage plates, decorative lacquered boxes, faux finished tables and hand-painted furniture are just some of the special items. At “Living Greens” find beautiful poinsettias and plants to fill your home. And then there are twelve vendors to tempt you with handmade jewelry, women’s fashions and accessories, decorative pillows, ornaments, children’s clothing, and more. Out front under the portico, the Boy Scouts will be selling wreaths and swags of greens as they have for many years. And to top it off, there will be soup, sandwiches, and drinks available throughout the day.
