GREENWICH, CT — Family Functional Fitness, an all-encompassing boutique fitness studio, has opened up a new location in Cos Cob. FFF first opened in 2019 in Old Greenwich.

Owner Joshua Takacs marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with First Selectman Fred Camillo at 205 E. Putnam Ave. last weekend. FFF is currently working through referrals, and will open up services to public inquiries in January.

Takacs told Patch he's excited to join the Cos Cob community, and that the popularity and success from the original business inspired him to expand. There's currently a long waitlist of clients, Takacs said.

"The Cos Cob location happened to be available. I met with the owners there and we were able to work it out where it worked for both parties, and we moved forward with the project," Takacs said, adding that he's been thinking of expanding for about a year.

The new location is about 800 square feet. Jade Harrell, who has been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, will be the head trainer in Cos Cob.

FFF is more than just a place where clients can exercise, Takacs said. Services focus on corrective exercise, athletic development, weight loss or gain, pre/post natal exercise, and nutrition.

"What we do at Family Functional Fitness which makes us a little bit different is we kind of encompass everything in life," Takacs explained.

For example, a client's biomechanic information, nutrition habits, sleep schedule and daily schedule are examined, and a plan of attack is created to help bring about a positive, healthy lifestyle change.

"We kind of help as a health concierge to their life," Takacs said. "It's just a place where we analyze everything when it comes to health."

Takacs is a former top-ranked trainer for a national fitness chain, and has a decade's worth of experience working with clients from all backgrounds.

"I just found the gym and exercise for me very therapeutic, and it was something I realized helped change my life. It made everything better. Being healthy made everything feel better, the day went better. It was something I wanted to spread," Takacs said.

By the age of 22, Takacs said he had no living grandparents, which is something that impacted him.

"They did a lot of things they shouldn't. They were raised eating a lot of things they shouldn't. It pushed me in a direction to wake up and evaluate my own life," he said.

"I believe my gift is to help people better their lives in a healthier fashion of exercise and changing nutrition and giving people a positive outlook on life. I want to erase the old thoughts of the gym being this gruesome, grueling place where big guys slam weights. It's not that anymore."
