Family Of Patrick Conroy, Greenwich Marina Drowning Victim, Sues Town

Conroy died in September 2015 after accidentally driving off an embankment into the water.

GREENWICH, CT — The family of Patrick Conroy, the 80-year-old Wall, NJ man who died in September 2015 after accidentally driving into the Cos Cob Marina, has sued the Town of Greenwich on grounds of negligence, reports the Greenwich Time.

Conroy's estate, which is managed by his son, says in the lawsuit that the embankment's lack of guard rails essentially contributed to his death.

His family, who traveled to the area with him for a boating excursion, watched from shore as he and the minivan he was driving were pulled out of the marina. The lawsuit also seeks damages for emotional distress associated with seeing Conroy being pulled from the water.
