Firefighters Battle Brush & Debris Fire At Greenwich Transfer Station
A fire broke out at the Greenwich Transfer Station early Friday evening, according to the Greenwich Fire Department.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Fire Department responded to the Greenwich Transfer Station early this evening on a report of a large brush and debris fire.
According to a post on Facebook, the GFD along with Department of Public Works employees are "working together to extinguish the deep-seated fire."

The GFD said units will be on scene for an extended period of time.
First Selectman Fred Camillo praised the GFD and DPW for their response.

"Thanks again to the Greenwich Fire Department for being on the scene today to prevent the loss of life and destruction of property," Camillo said on Facebook. "Also, thanks to our DPW staff for their assistance to Greenwich’s Bravest!"
