Fleeing Fraud Suspects Tossed Torn Up Checks From Car: Greenwich PD
Three men fled after reports of a financial crime at a Greenwich bank on Feb. 23, police said. One of the men was charged with littering.

GREENWICH, CT — Three men accused of committing a financial crime at a bank within central Greenwich were arrested after a brief chase on Thursday in which torn up checks were tossed from a fleeing car, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
Miko Douglas, 23, and Taishaun Clements, 20, both of New York City; and Joseph Goodwin, 59, of New Jersey, were arrested on Feb. 23 around noon, their arrest reports state.
On that date, officers noticed a car that was suspected to be involved in a confirmed financial crime at a bank within the central Greenwich business district.

Bike patrol officers and patrol officers working in the area tried to stop the car, which was driven by Douglas, but he ignored officers' signals and fled at a high rate of speed, passing cars "in a reckless manner," his arrest report said.
Torn up checks were thrown out of the car window, police noted.

The car was found a short time later. Douglas, Clements and Goodwin fled on foot, police said, but they were ultimately detained and arrested.
An investigation found that the three men conspired together to commit the financial crime, police said. A search of Douglas' car found two counterfeit driver's licenses and two counterfeit HSBC credit cards.
Officers also recovered several checks that were torn and scattered throughout the car, police said.
Douglas was charged with reckless driving and other traffic violations, conspiracy to commit identity theft and forgery, and interfering with an officer.
Clements was also charged with conspiracy and interfering, and was also hit with a littering violation.
Goodwin was charged with conspiracy and forgery.
Clements and Douglas were able to post $50,000 bonds; Goodwin was not.
The men are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on March 10.
