Teixeira moved to Greenwich after signing a whopping eight-year, $180 million contract with the Yankees before the 2009 season.
The Maryland native was a key cog for the Yankees' 2009 World Series win, finishing second in American League MVP voting that year. During his tenure in New York, the first baseman was a two-time all-star and a three-time Gold Glove Award winner.
Following his playing career, Teixeira spent four years with ESPN as a baseball analyst in Bristol.
In 2021, Teixeira sold his Greenwich estate for $7 million. He bought the six-bedroom, 8.5 bathroom home for $6.7 million in March 2009, according to realtor.com.
Teixeira is the son of a Navy veteran father and a schoolteacher mother. He lives in central Texas with his wife, Leigh, and three children.
