Greenwich 2022 Primaries: Candidates, Polling Places, Hours

A Republican and Democratic primary will take place in Greenwich on Aug. 9. Here's what you need to know before you head to the polls.

GREENWICH, CT — A Republican and Democratic primary is scheduled for Tuesday in Greenwich, and Patch has you covered with what you need to know before you head to the polls.

Only registered Democrats and registered Republicans may vote in their respective primaries. Unaffiliated voters are not eligible to vote.

In Greenwich, the Democratic primary will determine the Democratic candidates for two state offices — secretary of the state and state treasurer — for the Nov. 8 election.

The Republican primary will determine the Republican candidates for the secretary of the state and for two federal offices for Nov. 8 — U.S. Senate and U. S. Representative.

Democratic Primary Ballot

State Rep. Stephanie Thomas, of Norwalk, won her party's endorsement for secretary of state. She will face off against New Haven Director of Health Maritza Bond.

Attorney Erik Russell, of New Haven, was endorsed to run for state treasurer. Voters will choose between Russell, investment manager Dita Bhargava, of Greenwich, and President of Elm City Communities in New Haven, Karen Dubois-Walton. Democrat Shawn Wooden stepped down as treasurer earlier this year.

Republican Primary Ballot

Madison resident and former state Rep. Themis Klarides (endorsed candidate), Republican National Committee member Leora Levy, of Greenwich, and Peter Lumaj, an attorney from Fairfield, are vying to face incumbent Richard Blumenthal for U.S. Senator in November.

Former Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson (endorsed candidate) is facing off against Greenwich's Michael Ted Goldstein, a Board Certified Physician and lawyer, for the opportunity to challenge incumbent Congressman Jim Himes in the 4th Congressional District.

Party-endorsed candidate Dominic Rapini, an employee of Apple, is running against state Rep. Terrie E. Wood, of Darien. New Britain mayoral aide Brock Weber qualified for the primary but ended his campaign earlier this summer.

Polling Places & Hours

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls at 8 p.m. Ballots can be dropped off at the Town Clerk's Office, and at drop boxes outside Town Hall, in the Town Hall lobby or at the Public Safety Complex, 11 Bruce Place.

For the primary elections only, four polling places have changed from past elections

  • District 3 will vote at the Hamilton Avenue School cafeteria.
  • Districts 7 and 7A will vote at Greenwich Library lower level.
  • District 8 will vote at the Cos Cob School gym.
  • Districts 11 and 11A will vote at the Parkway School cafeteria.

The polling places for the other districts are unchanged

  • District 1 and 1A will vote at Julian Curtiss School.
  • District 2 will vote at Town Hall.
  • District 4 and 4A will vote at New Lebanon School.
  • District 5 and 5A will vote at Riverside School.
  • District 6 and 6A will vote at Old Greenwich School.
  • District 9 will vote at Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.
  • District 10 will vote at Glenville School.
  • District 12 will vote at North Mianus School.
