Greenwich Announces Labor Day Closures

GREENWICH, CT — The town of Greenwich has announced closures for the Labor Day holiday.

On Monday, Sept. 4, Greenwich Town Hall and the Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility will be closed.

On Tuesday, Sept. 5, Greenwich Town Hall will resume regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Holly Hil.

Traditionally observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States of America and pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.

The holiday was created during the labor movement of the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.
