The Greenwich Art Society presents a new collaboration at the Burton-Young Spa in Greenwich to exhibit large format ar work by an art society member. The first exhibition is of Suellen Frick Lash's large format paintings which were curated by Anna Patalano, Director of Greenwich Art Society. The pieces selected reflect her progression from abstract color field paintings in which there are dripping flower forms to paintings in which floral forms evolve into mysterious shapes to her current work which are explorations of purely abstract forms in space.

Suellen Frick Lash has been painting for over 30 years in the Tri-State area, studying first at Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack, N. Y, Art Students League in Sparkill, N. Y., first as a student and then as a Teaching Assistant. Ms. Lash was awarded a scholarship to study at the Art Students League in New York City, studying with Bill Scharff, the former studio assistant to Marc Rothko. Her work is in the Art Students League permanent collection as the result of purchase prize awards and Best in Show. Her work has traveled with the National Sports Museum for 2 years. She was the recipient of the Dagny-Hultgreen award at the Bendheim in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2018 and many awards over the years in the Bendheim and Flinn Galleries associated with the Greenwich Art Society. Ms. Nash has also exhibited at Lincoln Center, the Belskie Museum in Closter, New Jersey, and was selected for many regional and National shows, juried by prestigious museum curators.

Suellen Frick Lash grew up in upstate New York in a tiny dairy farming community. My father was a college Professor and Dean at Alfred Tech, now called SUNY at Alfred, and was surrounded by vast fields and simple shapes, like barns, flowers and trees. As a result, I prefer to see one thing at a time so I can know it inside out. Hence, my vibrating color fields and forms that defy gravity and description which suggest a myriad of possibilities.

All works can be purchased by contacting the Greenwich Art society at 203-629-1533 between 10:30 am and 4 PM Monday through Friday or by emailing admin@greenwichartsociety.org
