Greenwich Author To Unveil His Latest Book

The former star Avon High School athlete and Greenwich resident will unveil his new literary work April 29.

AVON/GREENWICH, CT — A former local resident and graduate of Avon High School is a prolific author and he recently announced his latest project.

Former longtime Avon resident and 1986 AHS graduate, Greg McLaughlin, currently a resident of Greenwich, is set to publish his 14th commercial fictional novel, called "Moonstone." It launches April 29.

"The emotional family drama and romance story set in the quaint beach community of Matunuck, Rhode Island is the third in his best-selling series including previously published novels, 'Matunuck' and 'Erosion,'" wrote McLaughlin in a statement.

The series focuses on Mick Maguire, a divorced father nearing middle age, who moves back to his family beach community after leaving town nearly 20 years earlier.

McLaughlin moved to Avon in 1975 as a second-grader at Roaring Brook Elementary School.

He attended Avon Middle School and Avon High School, where he played three varsity sports including soccer, which won the Class M Championship during his junior and senior years; track, where he pole vaulted and served as the team captain; and wrestling, where he won the Class S state championship and later served as the assistant coach after he finished college.

After graduating from Rhode Island College, he returned to Avon where he worked for many years as the contributing editor at the Farmington Valley Herald, a seven-town weekly newspaper that covered news, sports and events in Avon and across the Farmington Valley.

He now lives in Greenwich with his wife and he works in New York City for Morgan Stanley.

He’s written and published fictional geo-political thrillers and romantic comedy novels as a second career for the past 10 years.

McLaughlin's novels are available on Amazon.com and in independent bookstores in the Rhode Island area.
