Greenwich BET Budget Committee Changes 'Decision Day' Schedule

The change was made to accommodate further discussion on the Central Middle School project.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation Budget Committee has modified its "decision day" schedule to accommodate further discussion over the price and scope of the Central Middle School project.

The committee held budget hearings throughout the month of February and is nearing a vote this week to recommend a budget to the full BET.

Budget Committee Chair Leslie Tarkington has pushed the first decision day meeting to 10 a.m. on March 7 in order to allow the scheduled Central Middle School Building Committee meeting at 8 a.m., to proceed with members of the BET in attendance.

The budget committee's meeting on March 7 will run from 10 a.m., to 5 p.m. The second decision day meeting will be held on March 8 from 11 a.m., to 4 p.m.

The meetings are open to the public, but no public comment will be allowed. The meetings will take place at town hall and can be viewed in person or on Greenwich Community Television Channels 24, 79, and YouTube.

Following the budget committee's vote, the full BET will hold public hearing slated for March 29. They're scheduled to vote on a spending plan on April 4.

After the BET approves a budget, the Representative Town Meeting will have the final vote in May. The RTM can only make cuts and cannot make any additions.
