Greenwich Billionaire May Be Tapped for Intelligence Agency Review: Reports

Stephen Feinberg, a co-founder of Cerberus Capital Management may conduct a review of intelligence agencies under President Trump.

GREENWICH, CT — President Donald Trump is considering bringing in Greenwich billionaire Stephen Feinberg to conduct a review of American intelligence agencies in the wake of leaked information that led to Michael Flynn's resignation, according to multiple media reports, including the New York Times.

Feinberg is the co-founder of Cerberus Capital Management and currently is a member of Trump's economic advisory council. Cerberus specializes in buying distressed companies and assets in order to turn them around.

Some members of the American intelligence community worry that the move would reduce their independence and close the spout on information leaks that don't align with Trump's views.

Former CIA and Defense Department head Leon Panetta told Bloomberg that Feinberg would be committed to doing the right thing and isn't a pawn. Panetta is Cerberus adviser on intelligence and security.

Cerberus' biggest defense property is DynCorp, which maintains aircraft and has trained Iraqi police officers, according to Bloomberg. It also owns Remington, a gun conglomerate that owns several brands, including Bushmaster. A Bushmaster rifle was used in the Sandy Hook Massacre and Cerberus received some pressure to sell Remington.
