Greenwich Board Of Estimate And Taxation Elects New Vice Chair
The position was left open following the resignation of a BET member last month.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation elected a new vice chair last week.
Republican Leslie Tarkington, currently the longest-tenured member of the town's finance board, was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy left by Republican Michael Basham, who stepped down due to health reasons last month.
Basham was replaced by Harry Fisher on the 12-person board, but the vice chair's position remained open. Tarkington was nominated by BET Chair Dan Ozizmir.

"Leslie Tarkington is a long-serving member of the BET. She's currently the budget committee chair and she has served in that position previously. She has also served as committee chair for many of the other committees," Ozizmir said.
The nomination was seconded by Democrat caucus leader Leslie Moriarty.

"You've been involved with seats on almost every committee we have. You certainly work very hard for our board, and I know I support your nomination for vice chair," Moriarty said.
Tarkington spoke briefly after the unanimous vote.
"I thank all of my BET colleagues for their support, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you," she said.
The BET is now off for a summer break and will return in September.
