Greenwich Choral Society To Present Special Program April 3

The Zoom mini-lecture will look at the history of protest songs.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Choral Society is presenting a series of special programs for those interested in a deeper engagement with choral music and with the professional staff of the Greenwich Choral Society.

The third in the series on April 3 at 4 p.m., The History of Protest Songs, will feature Baritone Eddie Pleasant who will expand on the history of protest songs as seen through the lens of such movements as labor unions, civil rights, women's rights, Americans with disabilities, gay rights and Black Lives Matter.

Pleasant has an extensive list of credits in opera and musical theater as well as in concerts, recitals and recordings. Pleasant has appeared with the New York City Opera as Jim in "Porgy and Bess," as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in "Faith Journey," a story of the unfolding of the Civil Rights movement, and as Ben Ross in a touring production of "Freedom Train." He recently celebrated his Carnegie Hall debut in "Durufle’s Requiem," and has added professional storytelling to his orchestral repertoire as a narrator with the Norwalk and Greenwich Symphonies.
