Greenwich Detective Honored For Work On Motor Vehicle Theft Case
Police said Det. Christopher Libasci conducted a five-month investigation into car thefts from a Greenwich dealership.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich police Det. Christopher Libasci was named the Greenwich Police Department Officer of the Month after he conducted a five-month motor vehicle investigation that ended with three arrest warrants for the suspects involved.
On Nov. 25, 2023, then unidentified suspects entered the parking lot of a Greenwich car dealership and stole two high-end cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars combined, police said in an online post.
"After viewing surveillance footage from the dealership, De.t LiBasci identified an unknown Uber driver who had driven the subjects to Greenwich and interviewed him, which resulted in obtaining more details about the fare," police added. "A search warrant led to identifying the person who ordered the Uber. After obtaining five more separate search warrants and examining phone records, the suspects were identified, and this complicated five-month investigation resulted in court-approved arrest warrants for three subjects.
