Greenwich Detective Named Department's Officer Of The Month
Det. Ryan Beatie was honored for his work on a sexual assault investigation last month.

GREENWICH, CT — Det. Ryan Beatie has been the named the Greenwich Police Department Officer of the Month for his work in identifying the suspect in a sexual assault investigation, the GPD announced.
On Dec. 24, 2022, Greenwich police responded to a local home on a request for a welfare check. Responding officers found a woman in need of medical treatment, who was later taken to the hospital, police said.
The next morning, officers were able to interview the woman and began to suspect that she was the victim of a violent rape, police said. Beattie was called in and took over the investigation.

Since it was now Christmas morning, normal resources, including manpower and court access, were minimal, police said.
However, Beatie was able to identify the suspect, seize evidence, develop probable cause for arrest and obtain an arrest warrant. The suspect was taken into custody before midnight, police said.

In their announcement, the GPD highlighted the resources in the area that are dedicated to victims or people who know victims of sexual violence.
The Rowan Center, located at 1111 Summer St., Suite 202 in Stamford, provides free, 24-hour confidential support to those who have experienced sexual violence or know someone who has in the Greenwich area.
All of their services are available free of charge to individuals of all genders, including those who are cisgender, transgender, and non-binary, 14 and up, and are available in English and Spanish. Our counseling is available in Haitian Creole.
