Greenwich Distinguished Teacher Award Winners Announced
Six Greenwich Public School teachers have been selected to receive the annual award.

Six teachers have been selected as 2015 Greenwich Public Schools Distinguished Teachers.
The educators, selected by the Greenwich Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee, will be recognized at the Board of Education’s meeting on Thursday, April 23. The meeting will be held at Riverside School at 7 p.m.
The 2015 Distinguished Teachers are:

- Cathy Byrne, fifth-grade teacher at Hamilton Avenue School
- Luz Desrouilleres, eighth-grade Spanish teacher at Western Middle School
- Richard Crawford, eighth-grade math teacher at Western Middle School
- Maryann Franchella, math teacher at Greenwich High School
- Maryann Jagodzinski, fifth-grade teacher at North Street School
- Diana Willie, eighth-grade social studies teacher at Western Middle School
The Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee, established in 1984, has worked on the selection process for this year’s recipients for the last eight months. The committee selects the Distinguished Teachers from nominations made by colleagues, parents, students, administrators and/or community members based on criteria outlined in the nomination packet.
The Distinguished Teachers Awards ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 5 at Central Middle School.
