Greenwich Easily Moves Into Football Finals

The opponents for next Saturday's four state championship games were determined in semifinal matchups Sunday.

GREENWICH, CT — Seeking its first football state championship in a decade, top-ranked Greenwich blew past No. 4 South Windsor 36-7 in a Class LL semifinal matchup Sunday afternoon.

Head coach John Marinelli's troops will play No. 3 Darien for the title on Saturday, Dec. 9, at a location and time to be determined. Darien defeated No. 7 West Haven, 27-13.

The Cardinals are 7-7 in state title games, last winning in 2007. Darien, the defending LL champion, is 6-8 in championship contests.
