The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
The single most pressing issue facing our town is our declining district scores. For decades, Greenwich has been known as a leading and high-achieving district supporting the needs of all students with a robust, enriching, and rigorous curriculum. My goal is to help raise our district scores and restore the recognition Greenwich once held across the state.
I will strive to empower administrators and educators to promote a standards-based, ethical, enriching, and challenging curriculum, addressing the needs of our diverse community. By bringing these principles and capabilities to the Board of Education, we can raise the standards of academic achievement by driving successful outcomes.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I have expended tremendous effort over many years as a dedicated community volunteer. I have served on the PTA Executive Board at North Mianus School, numerous PTA Committees, and coached basketball at the Boys and Girls Club, GBA and AAU. For eight years I was a dedicated parent volunteer for the NMS Bulldogs football organization. In recognition of my extensive community service, I was appointed by Fred Camillo to serve on the GHS Secure Entryway Building Committee.
My experiences in the Greenwich community, business and leadership enables me to serve the Board through my ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people including parents, school administrators, faculty, students, athletes, business leaders, subject-matter experts, and colleagues. These experiences have provided me with unique and relevant skills required to represent this wonderful and diverse community.
Accomplishments:
As Vice President of Strategic Alliances for a fast-growing technology company, I collaborate with our sales organization and partner community to drive joint business opportunities toward successful outcomes. I strongly believe these skills will seamlessly translate into collaborating with fellow members of the Board of Ed as we seek to achieve academic excellence within Greenwich Schools.
Other evidence of my accomplishments include: working in a high pressure industry, accountability, meeting KPIs (key performance indicators), executing business plans with global teams. As a Former D1 athlete I possess the discipline, work ethic, and dedication required for this critically important position. Coaching youth athletics for many years and spending considerable time volunteering in schools, I feel it’s critically important that we provide children and teens with the best possible learning environment with enriching, ethical and non-politicized curricula, so that they can become the best version of themselves.
Other issues:
- Some key areas where I would like to focus:
- Improve District Scores and State Ranking
- Remedy Special Education & ADA Inefficiencies
- Foster Freedom of Thought in classrooms
- Ensure curriculum transparency
- Set priorities for school infrastructure projects
What else would you like voters to know about you?
The success of businesses in my industry depends on the collaboration and hard work of diverse groups of people committed to a shared goal and measurable performance. I strongly believe these management and people skills will successfully translate into working with fellow members of the Board of Ed as we seek to achieve academic excellence within Greenwich Schools.
