The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
The most pressing issue for our town is how we allocate capital to town and school infrastructure. This issue has been made difficult by politicization. In my belief – the two key ideas to focus on are prioritization of our investments and project execution. Good execution requires robust design, followed by timely completion, quality build, and reasonable cost. My objective will be to focus our discussion on these strategic elements, ask intelligent yet tough questions, and demand accountability. If we work collaboratively, this problem can be addressed to the satisfaction of our community.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I truly believe that our community shares a common goal - of providing exceptional services while keeping our taxes low. I have no doubt candidates from both parties share this common objective. As a private sector operational leader, I have the experience to identify opportunities to increase efficiencies in our systems and find effective solutions to our problems.
My approach is to analytically study our problems and identify ways to do things better, without increasing our tax burden. My motto will be "to provide more for less." I intend to work collaboratively to solve problems. While many might say this is wishful thinking, I'm an optimist and I'm persuasive. I enjoy working with others and look forward to working with the entire BET team to provide the best services to our community.
Accomplishments:
I am a businesswoman with 20+ years of private sector experience, most recently as COO of investment firms. I'm an active volunteer in our community, currently serving on the boards of the YWCA Greenwich, ICC Greenwich, TFI US, and the Avon Theatre. I have an engineering degree from Rutgers and an MBA from Yale.
Other issues:
Encourage increased adoption of technology to improve town services, promote public-private partnerships to solve some difficult problems like downtown parking, provide input into energy, environmental, and conservation strategies for the town. Most importantly, address issues by looking at all angles and everyone’s interest, and not politicize them.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I'm a first-generation American. My father is a scientist who came to the United States to provide a better life for his family. I grew up in Delaware and New Jersey, and came to Connecticut for graduate school, and never left. Harry and I moved to Greenwich 11 years ago to raise our family. I am a hands-on mom focused on education and enjoy teaching my kids. I love to cook and our family loves to eat - Italian is our go-to. I love our town and would be honored to have the opportunity to serve our community.
