Greenwich, Eversource At Odds Over Tree Pruning: Report
Should Greenwich consider a more aggressive plan of dealing with trees to help prevent some power outages?

GREENWICH, CT — Even though Greenwich earmarks hundreds of thousands of dollars more than neighboring communities for tree maintenance, officials with utility company Eversource say that dollars alone are not enough, reports the Greenwich Time.
At issue is the amount of pruning and tree maintenance Greenwich allows Eversource to do around town, which the utility company says is considerably less than in other communities. Not as much tree maintenance contributes to the number and length of power outages in town, according to Eversource.
But Greenwich, which has a vibrant tree conservancy program that other towns envy, has a long-standing tradition of keeping trees, which many believe are inherent to the community's character and beauty.
