GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich family is giving back to three local organizations that helped their daughter in her cancer journey.

In 2023, Willa, who is now 5 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia, and after months of treatment, she's set to "ring the bell" in July, an act that symbolizes the successful end to chemotherapy and radiation.

Willa is the daughter of Tina Carpenteri, co-owner of Garden Catering which has locations in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y.

"Over the past few years, our family has received support not only from family members, friends and the local community, but from local organizations that specialize in supporting families through the pediatric cancer process," Garden Catering says on its website.

A fundraiser has been launched - "Queen Willa's Countdown To The Bell" - to benefit Circle of Care, LiveFree, and Swim Across America - Fairfield County Chapter.

Customers can either purchase a coupon booklet for $5 that offers deals on menu items, or they can donate directly to the three organizations.

Circle of Care, a Wilton-based nonprofit organization that provides practical, emotional and financial support to families affected by pediatric cancer, granted a room makeover to Willa complete with a princess castle and queen-sized bed with a canopy, according to Garden Catering.

LivFree, which is headquartered in Trumbull, sends children and families who are fighting pediatric cancer to family-friendly events and venues to enjoy quality time with each other. Willa was gifted with tickets to see "The Lion King" on Broadway.

Swim Across America hosts charity swims that help fund cancer research and patient programs, and an event is held every year in Fairfield County.

This year's event featured a new "kids splash" and it was named after Willa.

"Garden Catering wants to help cheer on Willa and continue to provide support to her and her family during these final months of treatment, while highlighting these organizations that do so much for so many families," Garden Catering says on its website.
