Greenwich Fire Crews Extinguish Blaze In Detached Garage
On Aug. 14, the Greenwich Fire Department responded to a home on Hobart Avenue where there was a fire in a detached garage.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire in a detached garage on Hobart Avenue this past weekend, according to a Facebook post from the department.
Several units responded to a home on Hobart Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. on Aug. 14. Engine 4 arrived first, and noticed moderate smoke coming from gable-end vents and fire showing from the double entry doors on the wooden 12-by-14-foot, one story detached garage, the fire department said.
Firefighters made their way into with the help of crews from Glenville Station 4, according to the fire officials.

"Crews were able to quickly force entry, extinguish fire and begin salvage and overhaul operations," the fire department said.
Representatives from Eversource, Greenwich Building Department and the Fire Marshal’s Division responded to investigate. Greenwich Emergency Medical Services responded with two ambulances for stand by. No fire department members or occupants were injured, and the the fire was quickly brought under control, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
