GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Green & Clean will hold a spring beach cleanup event next month in honor of Live Like Luke, during which participants are invited to clean up winter's debris along the shores of Greenwich Point.

The fun and family-friendly Earth Day weekend celebration is scheduled to take place April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenwich Point Park, according to a news release provided by the organization.

According to the organization, the annual event honors Luke Meyers (2004–2019), "an artist, environmental activist, barefoot runner and passionate protector of all living things."

Meyers' mom, Kerry, noted that "Luke will be remembered for his immeasurable kindness, creativity, and determination to make positive changes in the world," the release reads.

According to Greenwich Green & Clean, Meyers partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Bruce Museum in his final months to create an interactive, multimedia climate change education exhibit at the museum's Seaside Center, exploring sea level rise and its impact on Long Island Sound marine life, as well as the actions we can all take to halt global warming.
