In this workshop, students will learn lore surrounding a fairy’s home, from the ancient Japanese Urashima Taro to the Victorian English Goblin Market to the Hudson Valley’s own revolutionary Rip Van Winkle. As students learn this lore, they will build a fairy house for their home garden.
Students will design and build their house out of a wide array of natural and recycled materials. What makes the best roof? How do I build a window? How many chairs does a fairy need? In the pursuit of these answers, students will get to test their creativity, ingenuity, and the laws of physics. Who knew building a fairy house could be so much fun!?
