Greenwich Holiday Roadwork Moratorium To Begin Soon

Roadway openings, excavations, blocking or restricting public sidewalks, or parking spaces will not be permitted, except for emergency work.

GREENWICH, CT — For public convenience and to accommodate the additional traffic expected during the holiday shopping season, a roadwork moratorium will be in effect across town.

The moratorium will be in effect from Monday, Nov. 20, through Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, in the downtown Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Byram, and Glenville central business districts.

During this period roadway openings, excavations, blocking or restricting public sidewalks, or parking spaces will not be permitted, except for emergency work.

"The Department of Public Works issues these roadwork restrictions to minimize construction-related traffic impacts on retail merchants and customers in our town’s vibrant shopping districts during the busy holiday season," said Greenwich DPW Highway Superintendent Peter Kurpeawski in a news release.
